The smell is amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This finishing spray works flawlessly! Excellent all-day hold without making my hair super stiff. It won't flake off or leave behind any white residue which is great. You can reapply throughout the day as it has been buildable for me and it hasn't ruined the look or style of my hair. Most sprays are too stiff and tacky for my thinner hair and I am looking for something that basically polishes the final look, and this does the trick. It tames my small breakaways for a smooth look and the SMELL is heavenly. I've had numerous people questioning what my perfume was and I had to admit it was this spray. This is now a staple in my beauty arsenol.

I have been using Redken Quick Dry Shaping Mist for decades! Now, like many of your other reviewers, I find the new scent and the spray nozzle very disappointing. With all of the feedback along these same lines, why won't Redken go back to what they did best? Produce a product that was just amazing the way it was. I also used to use a product called Touch Control. BEST MOUSE EVER! Then, Redken discontinued it. Are you trying to drive loyal customers away? I will be shopping for a new Finishing Spray since I do not like the Quick Dry any longer. I hope you go back to the original formula and somehow repair the spray nozzle to perform better.

Why Change

I have used Quick Dry 18 for over 10 years and loved it (although every time I fly (which is often) the travel sized cans that are put in my luggage will not spray for at least 4 - 5 days then they are fine until I get back on a plane then they won't spray again - Note the cans that are in my purse flying work fine only the ones in the cargo area are effected) BUT now I am going to have to find another hairspray because they have changed the scent and not only does it smell horrible but every time I use it without completely covering my eyes it makes the skin around my eyes burn for several days. WHY change a good product at all???

Finishes perfectly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not one of those people who can go days without washing my hair. I workout hard every day and sweat a lot so I'm always drying and straightening my hair. I use a leave in conditioner but still have a lot of fly aways when I'm done with my hair. I have finally found the product to solve my problems!!! I've tried using oils to tame my flyaways but it left my hair too heavy and flat. When I tried Quick Dry 18 Finishing Spray I was sold. It didn't make my hair crunchy at all!! It tamed my flyaways easily but didn't make my hair stick down flat to my head. It was still light and bouncy and smells great. It's icing on the cake for my hair routine. I love it.

Loved this spray for years. However I purchased this a number of years ago with the same problem. Then it improved. Then, the latest purchases (3) are doing the same thing, using only 1/4 to 1/3 of a container before it hopelessly clogs. I threw the first away in frustration, the second I returned to ULTA, the third was refunded after a call to REDKEN. However, I expect more from REDKEN products than total frustration, one can went when I was traveling! I have cleansed with peroxide, upside and overnight in detergent water, same with alcohol, tried a fine wire, scouring sponge, nothing worked. Too bad because it is the spray that hold my wild locks in place!

Used to be my favorite...until the formula change!

This quick dry 18 was the absolute best spray that I've used for over 10 years! It really was fast drying and the scent was so pleasant! However, I recently purchased 3 new cans... not knowing the formula had been changed. I was so disappointed! The scent is horrible and the product was no longer fast drying! I tolerated the problems with the spraying mechanism because I so loved this product. But after experiencing the new formula I returned all three to the retailer and am now looking for a comparable hairspray...but I've yet to find one. I'm hoping Redken changes this spray back to it's original fast drying, pleasant scent that kept me buying it for years!

This used to my one and only for 22 years. I put up with the cans constantly clogging because I loved the product so much. Until one day when I purchased a new can and the fragrance was gross and the formula had changed. I hadn't noticed the "irresistible new fragrance" writing on the can. It smells like bug spray. I will never use this product again. It's absolutely awful. Why in the world would Redken change this product when it was perfect just the way it was? And they now say the old formula is no longer available. Sure it is, you just don't want to admit you made a huge mistake. Read how many customers you have lost Redken. Well, I will no longer be a customer

Works like a miracle!

I have fine, thin hair. Recently I tried out a new short cut with a lot of length on top. I couldn't get my hair to look full and stylish like my hair stylist did, no matter what product I used. Then I tried Redken Quick Tease. Oh my gosh. All I have to do is pull up a section with my fingers, spray on the Quick Tease, hold it a sec, then style with my fingers, and my hair looks fantastic. I am over the moon happy with this. My mom's hair is even thinner than mine, and I showed her how to use it, too. She flipped out at how good her hair looked and how easy it was to do it using the spray. Now she's a big fan, too.

What happened to my favorite hairspray....Where did it go? Quick Dry 18 was the absolute best spray and I've used since it came out! It really was fast drying and the scent was so pleasant! I bought 3 cans recently and was told the formula had been changed. I was so disappointed! The scent is horrible and the product was no longer fast drying....add in the issues with the spraying mechanism and I no longer love this product. I am now looking for a comparable hairspray...but I've yet to find one. I'm hoping Redken changes this spray back to it's original fast drying, pleasant scent that kept me buying it for years!

I have been using your Quick Dry 18 Finishing Hairspray for years. One of the best features was that there was no scent. I was extremely disappointed to find out there is now a "new irresistable fragrance". It is awful!!! I have spent a lot of time trying to find any of the older product that is nonscented. Why would you do that when so many people have sensitivites to scents!?! I think this fragrance is terrible. Because I loved the product, I tried a few cans because I could not find the unscented kind - but no more. I can't stand the smell. Please bring back the old unscented kind and I will continue to buy it for years to come. Brooklyn Park, MN

You might try Quick Tease 15. It is a medium/strong hold, freezing hairspray similar to Quick Dry, only without the new fragrance!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this quick dry hairspray for a few days now. I don't hate it but I don't think it's anything special. It says "new, irresistible fragrance" I don't agree with that. When I read that I was expecting it to smell much better. It just smells like a generic hairspray to me and it is quite strong when your first apply it. I have long hair with angles in the front. I used this spray to keep my angles facing inwards. It did hold my hair pretty well and it tamed my flyaways. My hair didn't feel coated or stiff. I do think it's overpriced for what it is. There are better drugstore alternatives available.

I have used this product for years and as many posts here have indicated the nozzles have been frustrating. I put up with it because I liked the product....and then...you change the fragrance to the most disgusting scent. I am scent sensitive and the original scent was tolerable but seriously, who on your staff suggested this change? Remember, many customers will just stop using your product without taking the time to give you feedback. The scent is bad. Full stop. I'd be interested to know what the impetus was to change it. A change in ingredients perhaps? If I was Redken, I'd find a way to fix this...asap.

Great Product - Can spray doesn't work of the time

I have used this product for almost 20 years. For the last five years or so I have had issue after issue with the nozzle not working. I run it under very hot water but it's nto always the sprayer, its the tube that goes into the can will no longer depress. I have this seen this product price rise from about 12 bucks to almost 20 bucks and by gosh they ought to be able to design a better spray system. I buy it at the in store salon at Walmart and always keep my receipt so I can return the bad cans and get a replacement. I would say 3 out of 5 cans that I buy won't spray. I use about 1 can every 6 to 7 weeks.

New fragra

I've been using Redken Quick Dry 18 for years on the recommendation of my stylist. I have very, very fine hair, and a serious cowlick on the crown...you can see why I need it! I recently bought a can with the "new irresistible fragrance"; did't notice it until I got it home. Not only do I not care for it, it makes me nauseous! And I sing in a choir that asks us to not use fragrance in deference to others who are sensitive. I see that the "new irresistible fragrance" is used in the whole line of hairsprays. PLEASE reconsider this change...go back to the previous formula.

Spray nozzel needs change in design

I have been using this product for over 20 years and I love the hairspray. I don't like the price at $17 but I buy it because it is good, However......the spray head is horrible!!!! It does clog but can be run under hot water to work again but it doesn't spray evenly and the spray comes out too hard and ruins my hairstyle!! Since the Change from silver to black bottle it has gotten worse. My first trial of the new black one at the end of the bottle it just went woof and sprayed all that was left in the bottle on my head at once!! I am seriously considering not buying another. Please fix this!!! Please!! You put this online so we could reply and I wonder if anyone ever looks at it!!!!!

Black Can Switch Causing Issues with Hair

I have used this product for 10 years and ever since they switched to the black can last year it has caused all kinds of issues with my hair. Irritated scalp, pimples/blisters on scalp, mild hair loss. On top of that it doesn't hold at all any more. I found some of the silver cans and used them and my hair has gone back to normal. Either they changed the ingredients in the can or there is some kind of chemical reaction going on with the metal materials of the new can causing this or possibly even the new nozzle is just not disbursing the ingredients correctly but this has to be fixed.

Perfect hold for waves

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My official go to hair spray for waves. I use hairspray just about everyday and that's to comb out my curls to loose waves. My hair used to turn into a sticky mess with previous hairsprays and i have a hard time finding one that doesn't seem like it's made to hold prom curls.
The nozzle has yet to clump or clog. The hold is soft but mighty. It allows for amazing movement in the hair without creating frizz. I feel like it even gives the softest shine.. just a perfect finishing touch. Already purchased bottle 2.
*my favorite is to curl hair, spray Redken Quick Dry Instant Finishing Spray, one pump of Redken oil for all (on ends) and use my fingers or a wide tooth comb for the waves that last all day

I can't believe all of the posts about this can! The product itself is great. I am kind of cheap when it comes to hair products. I do not like to spend $18 on hairspray. This was the ONLY salon product I bought with regularity...notice I said was! I love the smell, I love the hold, but I am not paying that kind of money to use a third of a can. And it happens in the small cans as well! Ridiculous. How can they not read these reviews and fix the darn can!? I am done buying the product, until I see an announcement on the can that says..."Now with a new design...no more clogs!"

This was a great product that I used for years but the new scent is awful! I am sensitive to many perfumes and was so glad that the old Quick Dry 18 didn't cause any problems. The new scent is overpowering and caused nausea almost immediately. I ran out and bought every can of the old formula that I could find. I also had the problem with the nozzle clogging. I run the top of the can/nozzle under the faucet for a couple of seconds after every use. No problems since then. It is a small inconvenience for such a great product. Please, please bring back the old formula!!!

Ready to throw in the towel

I have been a Redken customer for 35 years and have been very loyal. This issue with this product is very expensive and frustrating. It happens with the travel size cans and with the larger cans. I am sure that I throw away much more than I use. I even stopped buying it for a while and gave it another try recently but a relatively full can is now in he trash. I work in the adhesive business and know that inverting the can and spraying can often remedy these types of situations and that doesn't even work. Why can't you move to a nozzle similar to the one on the Guts product?

Clogged!!!

I love this product, but my last 2 cans have clogged at the spray nozzle and can no longer be used. I've noticed that there are 2 colors of nozzles, white and yellow. And some are positioned horizontally and others vertically. I believe most of my troubles have come with the white nozzle that is positioned vertically. Can you tell if the yellow nozzle is a newer type and does the yellow nozzle reflect your effort to correct the problem. I would appreciate knowing if there is any difference between these 2 color nozzles or if what I've experienced is just a coincidence.

I had used Quick Dry 18 for years...as long as I can remember. Back in the days of the silver can. You lost my business when you went to the new scent. I don't understand why you would change something that works. If you wanted to tweak it, work on the spray mechanism. If I want a scent, I wear perfume. I don't want to be overwhelmed or overwhelm my friends with my hairspray. The hold had been great and I loved it. But I've had to go to other brands on a hunt for something else. You've got tons of reviews saying this, so why not go back to the original????

I'm joining other reviewers who have had problems with the spray nozzles: it was frustrating, but the product itself was still worth the hassle of returning the spray to point of purchase. However, now the essentially unscented product has been replaced with a strong, long-lasting scent that I find very unpleasant. After years of using this product with great satisfaction, I now am searching for something else. If you ever restore the original, essentially unscented product, do let me know--and hopefully the nozzle problem will we corrected as well. Thank you.

Fragrance Change - Horrible Smell

I also have been using this product for many, many years and have experienced all of the hassles with the can and wasting of the product that remains in the can once the nozzle quits, yet I continue to buy it because it's a good product. However, I just bought 3 cans of the Redken 18 and have now learned that they have changed the fragrance - it smells totally AWFUL!! The smell stays with you the whole day and I just hope that others can't smell it too. Redken - please change it back to the original version and fix the spray nozzle while you are at it.

Dries quickly but mats the hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Quick Dry 18 was just average compared to other products that I've tried. It dries quickly as it advertises but that's about it. I felt like every time I used the hair spray that my hair looked like I had been wearing a hat or that it was matted down in some way. I even had my Mom try it when she was visiting me over Thanksgiving weekend and she even commented on the fact that it was okay but nothing worth bragging about. I was not aware that there is a finishing spray available but I can't say that I'm tempted to try it because it makes my hair not look its best. I would not recommend this spray to anyone unless they don't care how their hair looks after using it. It's a little disappointing considering it's a Redken product.

Defective spray nozzle and new unappealing scent

I too have been experiencing problems with the spray nozzle on newly purchased cans of this product. My last 3 cans had to be returned to the store one-by-one. What an inconvenience. Also, there is a new scent that stays with me all day and is extremely unpleasant. One of the many things I loved about this spray was that it was unscented. Now I smell like spicy incense all day. I've used this product for several years and loved it, but unfortunately because of the consistent problems with the sprayer and the new scent I will have to change brands.

Spray Nozzle Clogs After First Few Uses of ANY CAN

I used this hairspray for over 20 years. It was always a great purchase. NOW I will no longer purchase this product. The last several purchases have been VERY DISAPPOINTING. I cannot afford to buy a product and then be forced to leave at least 3/4 of the product in the can. It now always, always, always clogs up. I see from other comments that I am not the only person who recently stopped buying this product. I've complained to my hairstylist and other customers in the salon on numerous occasions. My hairstylist had to quit selling the product.

Another long time Redken Quick Dry 18 user here. I have continued to purchase several cans at a time from my salon, even though the sprayer often clogs and product is wasted. As others have stated here, it is a product that works well, so we put up with the constant clogging (which Redken has never addressed over the years). No more. I had to return my most recent purchase due to an incredibly bad smell that lingered until washing and gave me a headache. Also, it goes on wet now, not dry. How can you completely change a product without giving notice to your customers?? Seriously, I'd like an answer on how and why and WHO made the decision? Also, if anyone reading this can suggest a good alternative, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have been using Redken products my entire adult life and love trying new products. I have been using Quick Dry hairspray for a few years and I love the way it holds my hair after styling. I have recently grown my short hair out to a wavy bob, and use this product to keep my waves from falling out. I saw the Beach Spray on this site and would love to try it out for creating beach waves. I am 72 years old and my hair is fine, not too thin, and naturally blonde (with some white hair I call highlights :) The Quick Dry gets two big thumbs up.

Too smelly

I've used Quick Dry 18 for years and years. I loved the product until Redken changed its formula and made it too 'perfumy'. The strong odor of perfume is overwhelming and I can't use this product any longer. In today's context of scent-aware and sensitivities to strong odors, I'm surprised Redken made such a dramatic change to a tried-and-true product. Redken needs to seriously reconsider its new formula. Quick Dry 18 is simply way too strong, it lingers and I will be looking for a new product .... after all these years. I'm disappointed.

A Great Product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first impression of the Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finish Spray was that it was going to leave my hair stiff and sticky like other hair spray that I have used, but i was wrong. The Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finish Spray left my soft with no sticky feel. It also dried quickly too. This hairspray held my style all day as well. When I wash my hair the hairspray washed out easily without leaving any residue behind. So my overall impression of the Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finish Spray is positive and I would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally would buy a hairspray at this price point because I find that drugstore brands do the job, but this stuff smells so good I don't think I will go back. I love the hold it keeps on my curls. I have long thick hair so it's hard to find something that will hold all day (or MOST of the day). I find this doesn't leave my hair really hard and the mist sprays out evenly. It also helps keep my flyaways at ease. I haven't had anything bad to say about this so I will probably be repurchasing once I run out.

I am so disappointed that Redken discontinued Quick 18!!! I've tried #28 and the hold is way to strong. The #18 holds all day and brushes out easily at the end of the day. The #28 pulls my hair and is uncomfortable when brushing it out. I've used 18 for years and like the other reviewers cannot fined a replacement. Would Redken please bring this product back. Even on your website it states #18 is a best seller. Sometimes change is not a good thing when you already have a good product with loyal customers!

I've been using this hairspray for years as it was the best I've ever found, and I've tried them all. Now, not only did Redken change the amount of spray from 11 oz to 9.8 oz in the past few months, the scent changed dramatically. It now smells like a bouquet of flowers that doesn't diminish throughout the day, it's terribly overpowering. Bring back the old scent, or you've lost yet another consumer due to changing the scent without any type of indication on the can. Very disappointing to say the least!

I kept smelling cheap perfume and couldn't tell where it was coming from. Finally figured out it was this hairspray I had used the day before and sparingly. Not only do I smell, but my master bath and bedroom still smell from yesterday. I have used this product for years and loved it, now my eyes are watering and both my house and I smell tacky. Why would anyone at Redken think someone would want to smell like hairspray instead of their favorite scent? This doesn't even make sense to me. From now on, I will read the Redken labels more closely and if it says anything about fragrance (really it's a smell) I will not purchase it. It infuriates me that this is labeled "irresistible fragrance". It's only "irresistible" because you can't get away from it, no matter how hard you try.
