Great addition in my toolbox!
As a Chromatics lover this was a tough adjustment. I didn’t like the results at first and was seeking other options outside of Redken which was heartbreaking as a 35 yr user. Then I was offered a class to be educated on Gel Oils and my world opened up. It is truly a fantastic tool with excellent grey coverage! Mixing correctly is key. It could be more “gel” like when mixed for a less messy brush application, but overall it’s a great product.

Awful colour!
Awful colour, either doesn’t cover or comes out to dark, like sometimes two shades darker. Has ruined my clients hair leaving me having to try and fix the hair. Have been a long time user of redken but unfortunately I will be finding a new brand that actually delivers the results I want and doesn’t cost me my reputation and multiple colour corrections. It’s such a shame because I love shades eq. I also was never told about chromatics being discontinued and I feel redken do not inform you of any changes or keep you in the loop with anything. They have become a big corporation that don’t care about their customers, if they did they should of asked us if we were happy with chromatics which my reply would of been 100% do not change your colour!

It has a no ammonia feature!

I have been using color gels oils now since Chromatics was discontinued, and I’m finally throwing in the towel on this product line, while I’m tired of hearing about how great it is; I have wasted money, time, and have disappointed many clients in the process! This color is too opaque, running and dripping quite often, and when it actually does work like a gel, it’s still messy. It’s also trial and error trying to keep it from looking like shoe polish and hoping it has enough translucency to actually take the place of Chromatics, or even having similar shades that Chromatics had. Why??? You had a great product and now this! I can’t believe how many positive reviews it has had. I will be looking for another product, and I should’ve done it sooner!
No, I do not recommend this product.

I have been trying desperately to find a new hair color since you discontinued Chromatics, why did you do such a thing? It was wonderful, consistent ant beyond cover was perfect for covering greys . I tried color gel oils and it’s shiny but only if I wasn’t my hair at least 2 shades darker, it’s horrible! Why don’t you ask your customers what they want? I am still searching and it’s been almost a year, and by the looks of it you aren’t going to bring it back. 8GI was the perfect base for throwing a few hi lights in to make my hair look totally natural. I am so disappointed in you Redken!

I give up!

I say this to you as a long time, loyal Redken client. You destroyed your brand with the change from Chromatics. I left a salon and hairdresser I love and went to for many years because my hair color had become a science experiment since this change. It either looked like shoe polish 2 shades darker or turned to faded brass in a week no matter what they tried.
You have competitors that are doing better than whatever this is you are offering now. As a company, you should really think about that.

Horrible
lousy dye. I live between Spain and the United States. In Spain they have been putting it on me and my gray hair refuses to take on color and it has caused burns on my scalp with a lot of flaking. They started putting it on in the living room after Christmas because it was new but now it's impossible. My hair has fallen out a lot after this. I have been using Redken for many years but it has totally disappointed me. I have written to Redken Spain and they have not even responded to me. Now I'm quite suspicious of this brand because of the poor quality.

I have tried this product, I do not care for it. I used chromatics for a decade. You have nothing that can be compared to chromatic to date, not even close. I don't understand why a company would discontinue a product that salons and people everywhere like and are satisfied with for years. Why doesn't Redken sell the formula to another company?
