All Tied Up

When it comes to succeeding behind the chair, Redken Education Artistic Director Sam Villa believes that it’s all about adding value, and at Symposium 2017, his class All Tied Up will help stylists master this important skill.
“I believe in today’s world that clients are looking for value when they visit the salon, value meaning information, knowledge, hot tips, and simple tricks that can be replicated at home,” Villa said, ‘All Tied Up’ is a class revolved around finishing tips and tricks that add value behind the chair.”
Focused on trending knot, twist, braid and up-styles, All Tied Up will not only provide stylists with strong finishing repertoire, but it will also feature an interactive never-before seen classroom experience.
“The attendees will have access to rope so that they can braid with me and learn the how to’s–as it is all about the rhythm of braids knots and twists,” Villa said, “This concept creates a great opportunity for a live audience to experience hands-on learning from a different perspective.”
Photographic Mind

If you’ve ever dreamt of seeing your work go viral on social media or featured in your favorite magazine, be sure to make Photographic Mind a part of your Symposium itinerary. Facilitated by Redken Education Artistic Director Kris Sorbie, and Redken Artists Richard Kavanagh & Jenny Karlsson, the session will explore the ins and outs of taking a great photograph.
“We’re doing an actual photoshoot on stage,” Sorbie explained, “We have a professional photographer, makeup artist, and clothing stylist so we’ll be focusing on what happens during a professional photoshoot, and how those tips and tricks then can be translated into what stylists can do in the salon from a social media content perspective.”
With imagery being more important than ever for stylists looking to grow their business and influence, Photographic Mind will teach attendees how to create a photo collection to promote their salon and leverage their client transformations on social media.
“Sometimes, the smallest thing can be the difference between good and great,” Kavanagh said, “And with the knowledge you gain from our class, you'll be armed with what it takes to create world class imagery.”
Balayage

It’s no secret that Balayage is one of the hottest haircolor trends today and one of the most requested look in salons. At Redken Symposium 2017, the Balayage session will delve deep into varying styles, from classic to modern, and offer stylists a thorough understanding of the technique.
“It's important that stylists have a true understanding of Balayage. Redken’s approach to balayage is different because we really rely on principles,” said Facilitator and Redken Artist Sean Godard, “Once you understand these you will be able to create anything!”
The in-demand session will cover 9 new Balayage placements, and over 15 formulations for glazing- giving colorists an arsenal of knowledge to meet all their client needs in the salon.
“Even if you are a seasoned Balayage expert you are sure to still take away several hot tips to help you add to your own style of hair painting.” Godard said.
