Multifunctional Curling Gel with great results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Redken kindly gave me this Sculpting Curl Gel for free so that I could review it. I have 2C/3A curls, and I applied this product after the shower. I found that the gel helped for my curls without weighing them down and without a crunchy texture. After a day, I slightly refreshed my curls after I woke up, but the curls still had maintained great shape. I did find that my curls were a bit frizzy still, but after applying some hair oil I was able to have it under control for the day. Overally I really appreciate that I could use this product with or without a curl cream layered with it, and I would purchase this product in the future.

Creamy Gel!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have curly 3a/b slightly damaged hair, this is my first time using a gel like this. It's almost a creamy gel that smooths over my hair nicely, there was a nice amount of slip which is a major bonus and this gave a great cast. I was surprised this didn't get crispy like the other gels I've used. I did notice that it relaxed my curls a little bit but that's not a major issue because of how well the hold was. Smells fresh and not overly chemically scented. I have neuropathy so it's always hard to open gel tubes like this but didn't have a problem opening this gel. All around a really nice gel for curly hair! Definitely recommend!

Perfect for humid days

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used a lot of gels, creams, sprays, pomades, etc to get my hair under control, particularly in humidity. I liked how the consistency in this was not very sticky, but had enough hold that it lasted the whole day with maybe just a splash to reactivate in the evening. The tube is easy to squeeze and ensure you get a good amount without having to dig your fingers into a container. Overall, I felt this gave my hair good definition, shine, and volume without being sticky, or making my hair look chunky or greasy.
Would definitely recommend this to my curly girls who need definition for their hair without getting the 90's crunchy look or weighing hair down.

Soft sculpting gel

I typically wear my hair straight as it is very difficult to find curling products that I actually like that work with my hair. I loved these products. I found the gel to be a nice consistency without being too sticky and it enhanced and helped formed my curls without making them crunchy or stiff. This had a nice floral set without being too strong that I really enjoyed. I also found that the gel and cream worked really well together and left my hair full and soft with minimal frizz.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3b/3c curls and have used a curl cream for many years. I wanted to try a curl gel as I haven't used one in a long time. In my experience, they make my hair sticky, wet-looking and don't define my curls. This one proved me wrong. It defined my curls and made my hair feel soft. My curls lasted four days with light touch-ups with the Redken refresh spray. I also loved the fresh scent. A little goes a long way. I feel a bottle will last me a long time. I have since replaced my curl cream with the Redken curl gel. My teenage son also has curly hair and has been using it and loves it. I recommend to all my curly friends!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like this product. There are a bunch of sculpting curl gels out there and I am always looking for "the one" but this is not it. It was ok, but the gel seemed to leave my curls on the frizzy side, and the mist didn't seem to do much at all. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this a 6. It wasn't the worst I used, but I have used better. My curls are tight and It just seemed to bring on some extra frizz. I am curious to see if the hydrating curl cream, being used with the gel, may work on cutting down the frizz and I am considering purchasing it to experiment. If possible, I would do an update !

I will be buying this gel as a staple now

I had a hard time finding a gel that holds my ringlets and isn't flaky and crunchy leaving me to wash my hair the next morning. With this sculpting curl gel my hair dried in perfect curls and it looked so shiny and perfect without having to wash it off every day, this is my 3rd day with it in and it still feels so light and I have been able to add more product and keep my curls looking bouncy and hydrated. I highly, highly recommend this product. I will be buying this as a staple because it smells so great, has an amazing formula and makes my hair look amazing.

I have 3b natural frizzy curly hair. It's hard to find products that really work for me and dont leave my hair crunchy and greasy looking. That is until I tried the redken curl line.
After my hair is super wet i scrunch about a quarter size of the sculpting curl gel in and I'm left with beautiful frizz free soft curls with no crunch. I will continue to use this line. I am beyond impressed which is very hard to believe as my hair is so temperamental lol.
For me I have the best outcome when I use the curl cream first then gel after. But I love this line!!

Works really well on damaged frizzy curls

I have fairly bleach damaged frizzy curls and it can be pretty hard to find a system that can control the frizz without being so heavy it weighs my curls down. I found this product to do a very good job of fighting the frizz without making my hair limp. I used the curl cream and the gel together and defused and the curls held for 3 days and I was able to revive them to a pretty frizz free state using a little water plus the curl reactivator. I also really appreciated that these products don't have much of a scent so they shouldn't aggravate allegies to scent.

I have curly hair so I have tried many brands and products—and I ended up liking this gel on my hair. The gel is light and not sticky. I like the product smell too as it was subtle and clean smelling.
This gel maintained my frizz which I was impressed with. It was lightweight in my hair and my curls were very pronounced after applying it. I did not have to use a ton of product since I applied to sections of my hair.
I gave this product a 4 instead of a 5 because some of the ingredients aren't CGM (curly girl method) friendly.

If you want to achieve the latest styles with that wet curl look or full, bouncy, curls you NEED this! It doesn't leave a hard crunch at all; but it keeps curls tight and in tact with no fly aways. My hair is still soft to touch using this. It's really a great high quality sculpting gel that's definitely worth the value. The consistency isn't sticky and it's easy to style with. A little goes a long way. It's an investment to be able to get salon styles at home. I totally recommend and will be buying regularly.

In my experience they make my hair crunchy and unmanageable but that hasn't been the case with this gel at all. The formula is sooo nice compared to others! It's thick and slightly tacky with fair hold. It doesn't dry out my hair like other gels when it dries down so I don't have to deal with any weird texture or my hair feeling like straw. The jojoba oil and squalane in the formula work to hydrate your strands while smoothing flyaways and adding definition to curls. Highly recommend.

Keeps curls looking fresh

I generally use products only meant for curly hair, which greatly helps keep my hairstyles intact. When wearing my curls open, I used this sculpting gel and was very impressed. I didn't have to deal with the knots and frizz that I usually have to tackle at the end of the day. It kept my curls looking fresh and sleek without making them feel crunchy or stiff. Beautiful, defined curls

I tried this product as the 3rd step of my curly hair routine and was first amazed by how good it smelled. It smelled just as good as Redkens curl cream, which when paired together makes my hair smell amazing for days! What I liked about this particular gel is that it didn't weigh my hair down as much as other gels do. I have very fine, curly hair due to my PCOS so it's always a struggle to find the right product for my hair. After my hair dried and I removed the gel cast from my curls, I was left with beautiful defined curls and so much volume (which was a big thing for me). The best thing was that my curls lasted DAYS

Redken's Curl Sculpting Gel is a Keeper for 2C/3A

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found that following instructions and applying the gel to damp hair did not give me the curl definition I need. However applying the gel to my wet hair provided more definition. With Redkens curl gel I find that my curls start closer to.my roots creating more volume at the roots which I like. The gel.smells.great & the fragrance lingers which I also.like.The.hold it provides does not last for 72 hours as stated. I find that I need to reset my hair after sleeping on it with a spray bottle and reapply the gel resulting in fresh bouncy curls. The curls are a little crunchy and results in a slightly wet look. I find the gel to be fast drying. I will continue to use the gel in my daily routine

I have thick, long curly hair that gets frizzy easy and am always looking for a good hair gel. I washed my hair as normal and first applied the curl cream from root to tip. Next, I applied the Redken Sculpting Hair Gel from Root to tip. I diffused my hair like normal scrunching as it dried. My curls dried beautifully. My curls were defined, bouncy and soft, not crunchy. The product had not left a sticky or hard film on my hair. I am very impressed and love the product. I will definitely be purchasing!

It provided a strong, yet flexible hold that helped my 4A/4B curls retain their definition for much longer than usual (2.5 days versus 1, could have been longer but the buildup was too much for me). It's almost like water in your hands and the smell can be annoying. It did not mix well with my leave in conditioner so I tried using it alone and it left me struggling so hard to detangle my hair. I actually ended up yanking so much of my hair out due to this product causing it to get tangled up. This has never happened to me especially with wet hair when it's easier to style curly hair. The only upside is that it does not flake so I was able to use it continuously for various days without worrying it would flake. Overall, I would not recommend this product to any of my curly haired girls.

It's alright if you blow dry your hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: If you take your time with this gel and separate each curl pattern on your hair, comb and finger spiral each curl, and then diffuse your hair by sections with low heat, than you'll love this product. It doesn't make your hair crunchy or feel heavy like other gels.
Cons: If you're pressed on time and just want to put product on without having to style or blow dry it then it might be a bit of a gamble. I tend to let my hair air dry naturally (to avoid heat damage) and this gel doesn't seem to dry very well on its own. It leaves my hair feeling damp and a little frizzy.

It Didn't WOW Me

While there was nothing in particular to critique negatively, I also didn't think it made my curls more defined or help them in any way. My curly hair days are very finicky and I tend to have more bad curly days than good, so I was desperately hoping this gel would work. I tried it several times and several different ways, both with a diffuser and air drying and neither turned out the way I wished it would. On the plus side, it didn't hurt my hair and I will definitely use the rest of the bottle. [Redken kindly gave me this Sculpting Curl Gel for free so that I could review it.]

Medium Hold and Amazing Smell

The Redken Sculpting Curl Gel it's a quality product! It has the perfect amount of hold and defines my curls perfectly! And when they say 72 hour curl they weren't lying! I don't wash my hair everyday so products that work for multiple days are a must! With squalane and jojoba oil it indeed moisturizes and has frizz protection so frizzy curls are non existent with this product! Couldn't recommend this gel enough!

My curls retained their shape even on a humid day, which, consequently, is a definite plus. However, the trade-off for this hold is the somewhat disappointing stringy texture. Even though the curls were defined, they still looked and felt somewhat stiff, which is not the look I'm aiming for.
This Sculpting Curl Gel is a decent choice if you're searching for a product to keep your curls in place. I just didn't notice it being any better than other ones out there.

No crunch!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I stopped using gels years ago because I couldn't stand the crunchiness of my curls after applying it. Redkin has changed that though, I apply this after showering and let my curls air dry a while before I blow dry them and there is no crunchy or sticky curls when I finish! I love this gel, it works great for my curls, I can still run my fingers through my hair and the curls will stay and it smells good too! I use the hydrating mist in the morning and it saves me so much time on my routine. Definitely recommend to all my curly hair girls.

Although this gel is a really good gel and it didnt make my hair feel heavy or stiff, it still wasn't what I hoped for. I've struggled to find the right products for my curls. I had high hopes for this one since I've been very pleased with all the Redken products I've used in the past but this just didn't do what I thought it would for my curls. But I would like to add I do not have a diffuser and I'm really starting to think that's my missing link for my curls. This sculpting gel did have a nice smell and over all was a good product but my hair is just wild and free and there's no taming it! I definitely would recommend this for anyone with curls that are more tamable than mine!

Leaves the curls even more defined and builds a nice cast around them to ensure frizz free curls. I will say when I first put some of the gel in my hair after the cream, it felt like it was drying my hair. To fix, all I did was spray more water onto my hair, which isn’t bad btw, and it felt better. This stuff keeps my curls looking nice and defined for 3 DAYS without needing to refresh. As a wash every other day girly, this product is a game changer.

I got these to try and the gel and mist are now in my curly hair days permanently! I go back from straight to curly which makes my curls suffer but this gel is amazing! No white residue! Smells amazing! My curls looks natural no crunch no yuck. Just beautiful bouncy curls! I've even gotten compliments! Unlike the mousse I used it doesn't leave my curls dried up the next day. I highly recommend this gel! I'm buying for me and my sisters!

Typically, I prefer not to use gel products because my hair is fine and inconsistently curly- tight in some areas, wavy in others. Gel usually feels too heavy in my hair and I don't like the hard, crunch feeling it leaves.
This product is so different than anything I've used in the past. Before applying the gel I noticed it felt less dense in my hands. I dampened hair that was last washed 2 days ago and followed the directions- rubbed product between my palms and applied to sections of hair. I then combed it through and used a diffuser for a few minutes. My hair is full, the curls are defined and it feels slightly set but not crunchy. I will definitely continue using this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The last step to finish defining my curls is the gel, I apply it in parts throughout my hair and then scrunch it. This gel is the best because it helps your curls maintain their shape for several days. It has good hold but does not harden or dry them out. The curl maintains its shape without frizz for several days. When applying it you have to be careful because it is a little watery and it can spill. If you want defined curls that last several days and look healthy, this is the gel for you. I liked it and would buy it again

Just not enough for my hair needs.

I am always looking for something to make my aging hair look as good as it naturally can. After giving Redken's Sculpting Curl Gel a try for a few weeks, I can safely safe that it's not enough for what my hair needs on a daily basis. Use a small amount, I'd have frizzy,dry hair in a few hours. Use too much and it gets gummy and leaves me hair crunchy and heavy. Even the "Goldilocks " amount of gel didnt work well for me overall.

some benefits of owning this product is you don't have to style your hair. You just put it in evenly and let it air dry and your curls look amazing and lasts all day and night. My curls even looked wonderful in the morning. I will be buying this sculpting gel once mine runs out.
