I have been using this hairspray for 4yrs and liked it up until the last 6-9 months. I live in FL so I have to have a strong hold hairspray and this used to be the one. Not anymore. My hair gets crunchy and stiff at first but as soon as I go out into the humidity, the hold is gone and I end up with a crunchy limp mess that needs brushed out to look decent. Did you change the formula? I noticed some mentioned a strong smell. Anyway, it's been hard to get the last 6 months and right now every place is sold out. It seems like a good time to switch. If you want to sell product, don't change a good thing and keep it available.

I have also used 23 Forceful for more than 10 years. I was glad to pay the premium price for a quality product. I thought the first stinky can was a quality issue. Now I know it is the new formulation. This is an incredibly bad choice on your part because it smells so bad nobody will buy or recommend it. Good luck selling this much longer. I had to buy something else because it was such an awful product. The salon would not exchange it without a receipt, so I am stuck with it. To bad Redken doesn't just recall the entire batch, since no one should have to use such an expensive product that the smells SO BAD.

The new "irresistible" fragrance on the Forceful 23 spray is VERY resistible!! In fact, I dread putting it on my hair every day, because the new fragrance is overwhelming and clings to everything until I wash my hair again. I can even smell it when washing my hair the next morning. I am SO disappointed in the change and will not be purchasing anymore of this product. Why would Redken change something that is so good already?? Most women don't want heavy fragrance in their hair products because it competes with our perfume or body spray. In fact, so many people have scent sensitivities these days that adding this fragrance to your product has really deteriorated the quality of it.

I just bought two new bottles of my favorite hairspray Forceful 23 and noticed that you changed the fragrance immediately. I loved the old product because the scent was not too overpowering - I am very sensitive to products with strong scents in my hair. This new scent is horrible - it competes with my cologne. My first day at work with it in my hair I thought the person next to me was wearing too much cologne and after a little while I realized it was me!!!!! It smells like cheap cologne from the 1970's. It also seems to make my head itch now. Please, please bring back the old product. Thank you.

I've been using this product for the past 5 years. It's been the one hair product I could always rely on. However, this last bottle I purchased contains a new formula, and the smell is AWFUL. It reminds me of cheap perfume, which wouldn't be a big deal except it's not a cheap hairspray. I used it several times, hoping it would grow on me, but I can't anymore. The smell gets stuck in my sinuses every time it's used. I ended up returning it today, and and bought a different brand to try out. Unless the old formula is brought back, I'll be on the hunt for a different hairspray.

PLEASE Redken, I am begging you to get rid of this awful new fragrance that you added to EVERY hairspray. It is way too strong, and does not smell "irresistible." I don't understand why you had to so drastically change an already perfect hairspray and add a ton of too strong fragrance that doesn't fade. Nothing else works as well for my hair as Redken 23, but now I can no longer buy it because of the fragrance. I've spent tons of money trying other things and my hair looks awful now. If you MUST keep this awful new smell, can you please make an unscented version? I know I'm not the only one who can't tolerate the new smell. I see it all over the internet. Please listen to your customers, you have to be losing a lot of money and loyal customers with this change.

I have used Redken products for years. It is all I use. I have a lot of allergies - primarily to hairsprays and Redken is the only product line I have found that did not aggravate those. I had used the 18 Quick Dry for a long time but noticed how dry it was making my hair so I switched over to the Forceful and loved it. But my most recent can has disappointed me. You have changed the fragrance and now I think I am having issues. Almost immediately after starting this can I started having allergy issues and noticed a huge change in the fragrance. What was wrong with the old version? It worked and smelled fine. This fragrance is not even a good one and I'm apparently allergic to it. I realize that you are not responsible for my allergies but changing the fragrance was not a necessary change.

Waste of Money!

I bought this product as a replacement, because the Redken "Pure Force 16 Non-Aerosol Finishing Spray" is discontinued. My hair is flat within 1/2 hour of applying it! PLEASE BRING BACK THE "PURE FORCE 16 NON-AEROSOL FINISHING SPRAY" QUICKLY!!!!!!! It's the only thing that works for my hair and I miss it! Plus, what happened to environmental concerns? There are no longer any "NON-AEROSOL" options in the Redken line of products! I love other Redken Products and will continue to use those!

The new frangrance for Forceful 23 is terrible!! Redken bring back the old fragrance, please!! The old fragrance was so subtle and did not compete with any other fragrances I wore (lotion, perfume, shampoo). I am so sad as this has always been my favorite hairspray for my fine hair and I've worn it for years. I am now searching for a new one. The new fragrance is too strong and too much like a bad perfume. Bring back the old fragrance for your loyal customers, please!

what happened to the old container

i have been using the forceful 23 for several years, and am very unhappy with the changes.. The new container is more difficult to use .. the top is lost and it travels poorly ... Now I am noticing my hair is drier and the product has to be applied several times in one day... I live on a boat and need the staying power of the old product.. i will be looking for and new hairspray.. If you bring back the old container and the old product I will return

I have used this product for many years (big cans, travel size, etc.) but returned all of my unopened cans today. The new smell is unbearable. It is too strong, smells up the entire house and makes my hair smell terrible. It's a shame because this is otherwise a great product but I'll need to look for something else. I hope you get enough compliants and go back to the old one. This is truly an example of if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I was a loyal Redken Forceful 23 user for YEARS-- I just ordered 4 cans and opened the first one (I order 4-6 at a time that is why I just opened the new batch)-- I almost passed out. The scent changed and the formula changed too! WHY?! WHY?! WHY?! this new formulation doesn't work and just gives me a headache-- I want the old Forceful back! My hair is flat and I smell like cheap perfume. Really disappointed!

This is the best hairspray I’ve ever found!! I had an extremely hard time finding a hairspray that worked and was honestly a little discouraged when my mom brought this one home. But I still gave it the benefit of the doubt and I’m glad I did because I found my holy grail hairspray! It doesn’t make your hair stiff or hard but is strong enough to make it last all day! Run don’t walk!

I was a fan of this hairspray for at least 10 years. I loved everything about it and got several friends hooked on it too. I am so frustrated with the recent reformulation. The smell is horrible. I've tried to see if it would grow on me, it's not. I will be returning my latest Forceful 23 purchases and searching for a new hairspray. So sad! If you change it back, I'll be back!

Definitely a favorite! This product is almost everything I can hope for when it comes to a hairspray! The strength of the hold is powerful while still being flexible enough to let my hair move naturally while keeping fly-always and curls in place. I do wish that the finish was better, sometimes I find that there is a bit of white buildup after a day or two.

Newest fragrance is awful

I have to start off my saying I'm a HUGE fan of Redken's products. I started using this hairspray about 15 years ago because I borrowed it from my friend LOVED the fragrance! I've continued using 23 as it holds nicely and washes out wonderfully. I now use several Redken products: Guts, Full Body, thickening lotion, etc. because of the overall quality; these all volumize my fine hair without weighing it down or making it greasy, and they all wash out perfectly. I'm incredibly sad to say I'm going to have to return this most recently purchased can of 23 and find a different hairspray. The fragrance has changed again, and this most recent fragrance is TERRIBLE. I've tried it for a few days thinking it would "grow" on me.......but nope. I tolerated the last fragrance change because the quality was still top notch. However with this most recent fragrance change, not only is it unbearable to smell all day, but now I'm noticing the can clogging.

My absolute favorite finishing spray! Some days this it all I use after styling and it gives me all day hold with no “crunch” and leaves a healthy shine! I tend to have more dry hair so it’s nice to get all of these benefits and not feel like my hair is being turned to straw! It is somewhat expensive in my opinion but totally worth it!

My hairdresser used this after my recent cut and color. It's not heavy or sticky and seems to give your curls a nice "bounce" as well. It didn't hold the curl as tight as I usually like it, but I did wake up with some curls left in my hair!
This leaves a nice scent that is not chemical or overpowering, would definitely recommend

Bring back the old Forceful 23 hairspray! The ingredients look to be the same as the old hairspray, but something has changed. This hairspray dries my hair out so much,and the Forceful before left my hair shiny, and held my hair in place. Even my hairdresser noticed how much my hair had dried out. Also bring back Blonde Glam!

i work at a beauty store, and this is the BEST hairspray i will ever own. i have already gone through probably 5 cans of this and will continue to buy. if you want a very nice hold but still have that soft bouncy look this is the product for you, i use it over and over and will forever to hold my curls, and keep them soft.

I have been using redken for years, and I love the hair spray, however, the new containers are not good. I have a half a bottle of hair spray that will no longer spray!!! Very frustrating when the hair spray is not cheap. The old silver containers worked much better, I never had any issues like I do now.

The feel of this says flexible hold, but don't be fooled. A favorite of hairstylist Guido, it's so strong that it delivers eight hours of control, not to mention 24 hours of humidity resistance, without the crunchy feel. Make this gem from Redken your go-to for setting any kind of updo or pony in place.

Great hairspray, terrible smell. I have been using this for years and it has been unscented. I just purchased a new can and it says "new scent" on it. For those of us allergic to perfumes, it is terrible. I smell like Aqua-Net. Please continue to make unscented. The smell lasts all day.

The most recent change to Redken 23 hairspray is terrible. A fragrance has been added that is so strong that it is very difficult to wear perfume because it clashes. Very strong scent that lasts all day. I will have to stop using this hairspray which upsets me because I used to love it

This is the best hairspray for fine hair! I have used it for at least 30 years on my clients and myself. The number 28 to replace it is not at all like the 23. I have bought every hairspray that Redkin makes along with Kenra, Elnet but it doesn't work. Please bring this back!

I am a long-time user of this product. The recent new fragrance is not tolerable. It has a horrible lingering chemical and lacquer-like smell (kind of like AquaNet). The smell lingers in my nostrils and clothes. You've forced me to switch products and I'm not happy about it.

I really like this hold. It’s buildable. Most of Redken sprays are. This one is great for medium-thick hair. I do not recommend this for fine hair. It’s great for braids, updo styles and vintage looks. This picture is of a client whom I had a pleasure of coloring and styling.

I too have used Forceful 23 for many many years and I'm wondering why you would change it. I could comb my hair in the morning and it still looked good in the evening. I have very fine hair and this new product does not hold my hair. Please bring back the old Forceful 23.

I love most if not all of Redken products I have tried. Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength hairspray does and excellent job of helping keep your hair in place even on windy days. It isn't too heavy and is not too stiff. I like the hold it gives for normal every day use.

Redken keeps you in line by numbering the level's of their hold. 23 is a higher hold and is great for everyday styles. Keep an updo up or curls together. A must keep in the bathroom. Has a great smell and of course a

I bought this hairspray after my hairdresser used it on my hair and it kept all my little baby hairs in place! I loved the fact I didn’t look like a mad woman at the end of the night. This is my go to for hairspray now! It has a nice scent to! Would recommend.

A hair dresser used the Redken Forceful 23 Strength finishing spray after a hair cut and I have never stopped using it. This product is amazing, I use this product really whenever I feel necessary if I'm going out for the night or if I know its humid out.

I have always loved this product, but you have changed it, I have an allergic reaction to the fragrance, plus it seems to build up on my hair. The Redken Salon where I go to have my hair styled says all of one of the clients do not like the new product
No, I do not recommend this product.
