[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] • How does the Redken Extreme Play Safe compare to other products you've tried? I've never tried other products such as thing. I have tried sprays that sit in your hair when you use them but not ones you put on after you wash your hair. I hate that about this product, it really is awful
• Would you buy the Redken Extreme Play Safe? nope, it weighs down my hair and it feels really gross to me. I have fine hair so this does not agree with it.
• Were you aware of the Redken Extreme Play Safe before participating in this program? No I wasn't aware of this product before I product tested this.

A little goes a long way

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a bad experience with trying to find a leave-in hair treatment. Most products are too goopy, making your hair look stiff or oily. When I first tried the product, I thought I was dealing with the same problems. I showered and used a pump of the product on my damp hair. When my hair dried, it was stiff and sticky all day. The next day I tried it again and ensured my hair was barely wet and used about half a pump of product. My hair was soft all day, with no stiffness, and my hair was easy to work with and style. I had the same experience for the next several days and noticed that my hair had less breakage and seemed fuller and smoother than before.

Protection without compromising movement

I have never used this type of product before but knowing how often I blow-dry and/or curl my hair it's a shame I didn't know about it sooner! This product was extremely easy to apply after showering and was pleased to find that it didn't feel greasy or weigh down my hair. I also liked that there it was subtly scented but not overpowering. After blow drying, my hair felt soft, a bit more voluminous and had a nice health sheen to it. I highly recommend this product to those of us who regularly use some form of heat to style their hair.

Goldilocks after using Extreme Play Safe

This is my first time trying Redken Extreme Play Safe and I have fallen in love. After using this my hair is silky, smooth and looks amazing. Not to mention that my hair feels and looks nourished and healthy. ExtremePlay Safe is something I never knew I needed, but now can't live without. The smell of this product is mesmerizing. My kids and Hubby cant stop telling me how good my hair looks and smells. Thanks redken for a new favorite product! I am spreading the word of my love. Delivered a soft, shiny blowdry

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I hadn't used many Redken products before trying this - I have wavy hair with lots of volume (I.e. frizz) so I tend to be very particular about styling products. I usually use Kristin Ess blow dry spray or the Beauty Protector line. But this product so delivered. Appreciated that it called out a specific heat protection level - 450 degrees. It gave my hair softness and body and avoided any heavy or greasy feeling. Soft, controlled hair is no easy feat with my waves. The scent was subtle - a clean, sweet scent. Really happy with this as an everyday styling tool - and knowing it's protecting my hair, too!

Smells great!

I really love that it makes my hair smell great! The product is a nice smooth texture that easily blends into my hair. I tried it on it's own first, and while my hair was protected from my straightener, it didn't make my hair LOOK any different. I've been using Extreme Play Safe in addition to my normal products and I've been very impressed. This is a great product to add to your lineup for heat protection and scent. I would recommend this to anyone who uses hot tools for styling their hair.

One of the things that I love most is that it leaves my hair feeling very silky and hydrated, not crunchy or greasy like a lot of others. Because of that, this can even be used without heat in my opinion. I like to use it on days when I air dry my hair because it makes my hair feel more conditioned, soft, and even helps define my waves. It has a subtle scent that is really nice and fresh. This is one of those products that I couldn't recommend more, and definitely plan on purchasing again when I run out!

Gave Me 2nd Day Hair!

I have really fine hair and sometimes products can weigh my hair down when they are meant to protect it. The first time I tried this Redken product, I used too much and it weighed my hair down. It was also really humid outside, which didn't help. I learned one pump was enough to use on my fine hair - I rake it through my hair when it's about 70% dry and it works so well that it gives me second day hair! My hair stays straight for two days in a row, even in really hot, humid weather. I love this product!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is one of my now holy grail items. (I received this item for free for the purpose of a review, but this is a sincere, and honest review.). This was a game changer for it. My hair for days later has been healthier and softer then it was before and I have curly and frizzy hair. This product has kept my hair from frying and drying out. You need to apply it to damp hair, bit what is in it makes it so you can straighten your hair easy even while still wet . My hair was soft and nourished after this. The texture is creamy and it soaks right in. Highly recommend.

Leaves treated hair nice and soft after flat iron

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I blow dry my hair and use a flat iron on it every other day, and the ends of my hair after I flat iron can get dry and damaged. I have been using Play Safe before I dry and flat iron it for a couple of weeks now, and my hair is not dry and does not look damaged. It actually feels smoother and unlike some of other products I used before, it doesn't make my hair look greasy or feel sticky. The only thing I am not crazy about it is the smell. It doesn't smell bad, just not as nice as I would like it. But it definitely protects my hair from the heat and flat iron.

I will say, if your hair is thin use a little product or it can weigh your hair down. But ones I evenly apply it and blow dry my hair, my hair looks and feels soft and healthy. I love the way my hair smells after as well!! I have used this item to curl my hair with my dyson as well and it works for this occasion as well, but Luke I said...use a small amount for thin hair or it will weigh it down. I would purchase this item again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently tried the Redken Extreme Play Safe, and I'm amazed how this product actually help protect my thin hair, I wasn't even able to blow dry my hair without causing considerable damage to my hair before trying Extreme Play Safe, it leaves my hair silky soft, and shiny, the creamy product covers the totality of the hair when applied, so it won't leave any areas of the hair unprotected, I can see a huge difference in only three uses, my hair looks healthier and it has more elasticity, no more breakage, and to top it off it has a wonderful scent, leaves my hair looking and smelling beautiful! This formula is totally amazing, I have been blow drying my hair, and using my curling iron without regretting it later, a total game changer!

The first thing I noticed is my hair was less frizzy after using my straight iron. Usually I still have frizzies and I did notice it was much much better. The best part was I didn't lose as much hair. I usually constantly clog my sink with the stray hair that fall out and I haven't had to pull out hair in quite a long time. I'm guessing this product is doing its job! Nice pleasant scent too. Will definitely be purchasing again! A little does go a long way too!

I have 2C hair that is dry and damaged, and I did feel like this product did a decent job of making my waves/curls a little more defined and more protected from diffusing with a hair dryer. I did not really feel like the product really hydrated my hair at all, but I think maybe I need to use more product and see if that would help. I would recommend for curly/wavy hair, but I think this product should be used with other products if you're looking for more hydration.

It made my daughters bleached hair so soft, smelled great and even made her hair dry faster than usual. It did not make my hair hard, it has a light bubble gummy scent and when I curled my hair with the flat irons, my hair did not singe, or really anything. This seems like a good product that I will continue to use to protect my hair from extreme heat when I flat iron and I will purchase in the future if I see over the time I use up this bottle that my hair is healthy and not damaged much from heat. I would recommend to others!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do not deny it, I have unruly hair that I have to iron it all the time, and that has caused it to be somewhat dry and damaged and obviously the ends are split from so much heat used, it is instantly noticeable that it lacks shine. I tried the Redkens Extreme Play Safe product and was amazed my hair is another one came to life !! It visibly reduced the damage it had, in just 2 weeks of use ... and I can see that the hair does not break as much when brushing as before, it feels soft and looks strong at the same time i love It!! It is easy to use just apply the product only on damp hair, concentrating on the damaged middle and ends, Leave it and that's all you can continue with the ironing or drying of hair, you will feel that it is protected for any heat temperature. I recommend it to you!

I've tried other leave-in heat/damage control products but they either left my hair greasy feeling, stiff, or just didn't work. I love wearing my hair straight so I have tried various other heat protective products. The first thing I noticed was that this product had more of a cream consistency where many others have been oily. Right off the bat this made me happy. The smell was also very nice. I like the Redken for a number of reasons, mainly the softness that it imparts. I can flat iron my hair without the worry of burning. It seems to coat the hair and truly protect it from the heat, and the curls seem to hold better. My hair is curly, and I normally need high heat to straighten it, but as I said, I don't think that I need it as high. Plus, it smells awesome. I will definitely continue to use it.

But once my hair is dried and styled, my hair feels so soft, smooth and healthier. I am impressed! There is no stickiness once it is all done. And secondly, it's basically an all in one product that I feel great using because I'm cutting out a few other products I would normally use like a heat protectant spray and also a regular leave in conditioner and also I have been able to do away with my deep masque conditioning treatment as well!!! Love this brand and product

I have never tried this brand before but after using this product i can definitely say they make some awesome products. The extreme play safe made my hair feel extra soft after using, blow drying and flat ironing. Usually products like this make my hair look greasy or flat but this product did the exact opposite. I love the feel of my hair with it but it doesn't leave my ends easily manageable. But i put that on the damage not the product for its just the ends that are hard to manage. But i do have more volume and it does blow dry faster. I would recommend this to anyone that regularly uses hot styling tools on their hair to protect it from damage.

Great product for hair straightener

It feels silky and has a great smell that is light and not overpowering. I have tried on damp and dry hair before using the straightener with great results. It also made my hair easier to straighten leaving it looking glossy and healthy (I didn't apply too close to the scalp).
I recommend over oils/sprays I have tried in the past.

Lightweight feel leaves hair looking healthy

The Redken is super lightweight when you work it through your hair, and after drying, seems to also control for frizz. My only complaint is that it smells like a product for little girls - almost like a cotton candy smell. Just not my cup of tea. It really left my hair smooth and soft after using any hot hair tools it even was good against a blazing sun. I jut used a dab or two and worked it through my hair and that was all, no more needed. My hair is very thick and if I used too much it made my hair weighed down so just a dab or two was the best. I never knew Redken had such a treatment but it was great.

Fewer split ends and healthier hair

Using these tools makes my hair look gorgeous but it has also caused some breakage and other heat damage to my hair. I received this item for free to review at the perfect timing. I've never used heat protectant when blow drying my hair and have been using this. I am African American with 4c hair and detangling was less of an hassle, and lessened amount of hair loss when blow drying. Live in a very humid climate and did not experience frizzy hair before my next application. Will definitely purchase this product again.

Protects from Heat and Smells Great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have really thick curly hair, and I straighten my hair about half the time. I have tried other heat protectants, usually the sprays, but this one is my new favorite. It's creamy and silky smooth, very lightweight and smells great. Not like those sprays that are sticky, as this one is cream based. I've been using for about a week now, and I notice a difference in my hair, reduces frizz and it doesn't look as dry. Excellent product.

Great to protect my hair from heat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm already a fan of the rest of the Extreme line, this product works excellently after washing before styling. I use about 2-3 pumps in my long color treated hair. I work it through with my fingers and then blow dry as usual. I feel confident further hear styling because I know this creates a barrier between my hair and the tool. It smells great and doesn't leave a sticky feeling on my hair, it makes it soft and reduces frizz.
Yes, I recommend this product.
